We have lost over Rs 8 bn due to airspace closure: Pak aviation minister

Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that the CAA suffered a loss of Rs 8.5 billion because of the airspace restrictions

International:-Pakistan has acquired lost over Rs 8 billion because of the conclusion of its airspace following the Balakot air strikes in February, as per a media report on Friday.

Pakistan completely shut its airspace on February 26 after the Indian Air Force (IAF) struck a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) psychological militant preparing camp in Balakot in counter for the Pulwama assault. Ordinary air traffic tasks among India and Pakistan continued on Tuesday with Islamabad opening its airspace for every single regular citizen flight.

Tending to a public interview at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) central command, Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that the CAA endured lost Rs 8.5 billion in light of the airspace limitations.

It’s an immense misfortune for our general [aviation] industry. In any case, this confinement hit India harder than Pakistan. The loss of India is practically twofold. However, at this crossroads tranquility and congruity are required from the two sides,” the clergyman was cited as saying by the Dawn paper.

The ongoing bifurcation of CAA capacities into administrative jobs opposite business and specialist organization is essentially to improve its proficiency and execution,” he said.

Khan said that there is no proposition of any scaling down or rightsizing in the CAA after its bifurcation.
