Current Affairs:Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday guaranteed the Lok Sabha that state-claimed telecom player BSNL will be resuscitated soon.
While BSNL is announcing misfortunes since 2010, another telecom PSU MTNL has been in the red in nine of the previous 10 years. The all out obligation on the two firms is around Rs 40,000 crore.
“We will resuscitate BSNL and make it gainful,” he told the Lower House during the Question Hour.
A month ago, the administration affirmed a Rs 69,000 crore recovery bundle for BSNL and MTNL that included consolidating the two misfortune making firms, monetising their benefits and offering VRS to representatives so that the joined substance turns productive in two years.
The bundle incorporates implantation of Rs 20,140 crore for acquisition of 4G range and Rs 3,674 crore for GST to be paid on range allotment.
Different parts of the bundle are the organizations bringing Rs 15,000 crore up in the red on the sovereign ensure and the administration subsidizing Rs 17,160 crore deliberate retirement conspire (VRS) and another Rs 12,768 crore towards retirement obligation.
Resources worth Rs 37,500 crore are relied upon to be monetised in the following three years.
