“There is no compelling reason to associate Citizenship (Amendment) Bill with National Register of Citizens (NRC). I will clarify it [NRC] a similar route in the Parliament as CAB. Have confidence, NRC will be gotten soon,” Shah said in the Lower House.
The Lok Sabha today cleared the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 with 311 democratic in help and 80 against. The discussion on the issue went on for seven hours.
The Bill tries to give Indian citizenship to non-Muslim outcasts from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
Through this Bill, Indian citizenship will be given to the individuals from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian people group, who have originated from the three nations to India till December 31, 2014, to put a conclusion to them being treated as illicit migrants in the nation.
