Ashish Pandey, the denounced, was captured on January 10, 2018, in the wake of being on the run for just about 16 years.
The case related to a horde assault on Gulberg Society here on February 28, 2002, in which 69 people including previous Congress MP Ehsan Jafri were executed.
The assault occurred a day after the Godhra train consuming occurrence.
M K Dave, judge for cases examined by the Supreme Court-designated Special Investigation Team, on Monday absolved Pandey, giving him advantage of uncertainty as one of the survivors neglected to distinguish him under the steady gaze of the court.
The slaughter at Gulberg Society was one of the most noticeably terrible episodes during the post-Godhra riots.
In June 2016, the exceptional court indicted 24 people for the situation, granting life detainment to 11 of them. Thirty-six others were vindicated.
