As per a composed answer in Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Uttar Pradesh tops the rundown of states with 66,994 pending assault cases followed by Maharashtra with 21,691 and 20,511 in West Bengal.
“According to data got from High Courts, the status of pending cases identified with assault and POCSO Act, as on December 31, 2019, is 2,44,001,” Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad educated the Lower House in light of an inquiry by Janata Dal (United) pioneer Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh.
In encouragement to, the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2018, a plan was settled for setting up of 1,023 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) the nation over for speedy preliminary and removal of pending cases identified with Rape and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012, in a period bound way under Centrally-Sponsored Scheme.
