Current Affairs : The stringent National Security Act (NSA) will be slapped on individuals who assault cop upholding the lockdown to forestall the spread of coronavirus, the Uttar Pradesh government said on Friday.
The express government’s transition to summon the NSA comes taking into account reports of a few episodes of assault on police officers authorizing the lockdown.
“The police is carrying out its responsibility by forestalling individuals to come out during lockdown. There have been episodes in the state in which cops were assaulted by individuals. To discourage such people, it has been chosen to conjure NSA against such people,” a senior Home Department official told PTI.
The move is meant to dissuade the individuals who are messing with lockdown and in any event, assaulting cops when they are forestalled, he said.
In one such episode in Muzaffar Nagar, a sub-auditor and a constable were truly harmed when a police group attempting to implement the continuous lockdown was assaulted by a gathering of locals on Apr 1.
The police group was watching Morna town zone in Muzaffar Nagar and had recognized the inhabitants accumulated outside.
