India in touch with Pak over implementation of ICJ decision in Jadhav case

In July, the ICJ, by a vote of 15-1, had upheld India’s claim that Pakistan has committed an egregious violation of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations on several counts.

Current Affairs : India is in contact with Pakistan through political channels on execution of International Court of Justice (ICJ) choice in Kulbhushan Jadhav case, sources told ANI on Tuesday.

 

“A year ago the ICJ gave a ruling for India. We are in contact with Pakistan through conciliatory channels on usage of ICJ choice,” sources said

 

On September 2 a year ago, India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan Gaurav Ahluwalia met Jadhav in Islamabad after Islamabad had allowed consular access to the previous maritime official.

 

In July, the ICJ, by a vote of 15-1, had maintained India’s case that Pakistan has submitted a horrifying infringement of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations on a few tallies.

 

The world court had requested Islamabad to do a viable “audit and reexamination” of his conviction.

 

Jadhav was purportedly “captured” from Balochistan by Pakistani security powers on March 3, 2016, after he supposedly entered the nation from Iran as asserted by Islamabad.

 

India has dismissed Pakistan’s charges about Jadhav’s inclusion in spying and rebellious exercises and said he was abducted from the Iranian port of Chabahar where he was maintaining a business.
