Covid-19: India backs nations seeking independent probe into WHO’s response

European nations and Australia have been gathering support for an “impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation” of “the WHO-coordinated international health response to Covid-19”

Current Affairs : A sum of 62 nations, including India has supported a joint exertion by Australia and European Union, requiring a free investigation into the WHO’s reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic, as indicated by a draft goals proposed for 73rd World Health Assembly (WHA) meeting starting today.

The draft calls for “fair-minded, autonomous and complete” test into the coronavirus emergency. Furthermore, an investigation into the activities of the World Health Organization (WHO) and “their courses of events relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“Start, at the soonest suitable second, and in discussion with the Member States a stepwise procedure of fair, autonomous and far reaching assessment, including utilizing existing Mechanisms, as fitting, to audit experience picked up and exercises gained from the WHO-composed universal wellbeing reaction to Covid-19,” the draft report peruses.
