Current Affairs : The Maharashtra government has spent Rs 100 crore on shipping more than 1.1 million vagrant workers to their home states without sitting tight for any Central guide, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said here on Saturday.
He said the state government gave railroad passes to workers other than food parcels and other vital things.
“The Central government had guaranteed to give 85 percent endowment (on tickets of workers going out of Maharashtra in ‘Shramik’ extraordinary trains), however the state government didn’t sit tight for the monetary guide and spent Rs 100 crore for moving more than 11 lakh vagrant workers,” Deshmukh told journalists subsequent to leading an audit meeting on Covid-19 circumstance with authorities.
He said residents of Maharashtra who are confronting some particular medical problem would now be able to benefit of free clinical treatment under the state’s ‘Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Aargoya Yojana’.
“The legislature has recognized a few medical clinics over the state where residents can benefit free treatment,” the NCP pioneer said.
Deshmukh further said the police division has been dealing with its own staff who are on field obligation.
“We are allotting them light obligation. Besides, police staff over 55 years old have been approached to remain at their homes. Their compensations are as a rule likewise paid,” he said.
