‘Vande Bharat’ mission is a Government of India’s initiative to bring home Indian nationals stranded in various parts of the world due to restrictions over air travel to contain Covid-19 spread
Current Affairs : In excess of 70,000 residents have returned and about 17,000 flew out of India on Vande Bharat Mission trips till date, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday.
“More than 70K residents have returned and about 17K flew out of India on VBM trips till date. Also almost 110K individuals flew out and 55K residents returned on in excess of 730 contracts on outside and Indian transporters allowed by DGCA. Consent for all the more such flights is in process,” Puri said in a tweet.

The activity started on May 7 and its subsequent stage began on May 16.
The third period of the activity will start from June 11 and proceed till June 30.
