Stranded Indians in Iran to embark INS Jalashwa today: Indian Navy

On June 11, INS Shardul had brought back 233 Indians from Iran

Current Affairs : India’s warship INS Jalashwa, which has been sent to bring back the abandoned residents from Iran under Operation Samudra Setu, will begin its embarkation on Thursday, said Indian Navy.

“Operation #SamudraSetu. @indiannavy transport #INSJalashwa arrived at Port of Bandar Abbas, #Iran on 24 Jun 20 to bring back Indian residents. Embarkation begins today,” Indian Navy tweeted.

On June 11, INS Shardul had brought back 233 Indians from Iran.

Activity Samudra Setu is a piece of Vande Bharat Mission to bring back residents abandoned abroad in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Indian Navy had propelled Operation Samudra Setu on May 8 to repatriate Indian residents. INS Jalashwa and Magar have just emptied 2,874 faculty from the Maldives and Sri Lanka to ports of Kochi and Tuticorin. On June 23, INS Airavat brought back 198 Indians from the Maldives.
