Govt has assured visas to 600 Sikhs and Hindus from Afghanistan: DSGMC

Current Affairs : Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjinder Singh Sirsa met External Affairs Ministry authorities on Monday and guaranteed that he had been guaranteed that 600 Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan will be given visas by India in the coming days.

A designation drove by Sirsa met the incharge of Afghanistan and Pakistan work area of the service, JP Singh,a DSGMC proclamation said.

Sirsa told journalists that he took up the issue of bringing to India the staying Hindu and Sikh families from Afghanistan and the service guaranteed him that 600 individuals whose rundown is prepared will be given visas inside seven days.

“India will give visas to all staying Hindu and Sikhs families to repatriate them at the earliest opportunity. This confirmation was given to the DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa here today,” the announcement said.

Sirsa guaranteed that the service has guaranteed him that the Hindus and Sikhs will be given “long haul” visas.

Those forgot about can apply for visa and will get equivalent to soon as they will apply, the announcement said.

“We will guarantee that those Hindu and Sikh families forgot about in Afghanistan are brought here,” Sirsa said expressing gratitude toward the administration and Union clergyman Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Eleven individuals from Sikh and Hindu people group from Afghanistan who were supposedly “abused” there arrived at Delhi’s IGI air terminal on Sunday.

Sirsa said he additionally took up the issue of transformation of Shaheedi Asthan of Bhai Taru Singh ji at Lahore, which is a gurudwara, into a mosque.

India had on Monday held up a solid dissent with Pakistan High Commission over the issue, concurring a representative in the Ministry of External Affairs.

Sirsa was joined by DSGMC individuals Paramjit Singh Chandhok, Harvinder Singh KP, Jasmen Singh Noni and Gurdev Singh Bhola,the proclamation said.
