No coercive steps against DIAL for Rs 2,600 cr tax demand: Delhi HC to DCB

The court noted that both the Centre and the DCB are yet to file their replies and are seeking more time to do so

Current Affairs : The Delhi High Court Thursday coordinated Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB) not to make any coercive move against DIAL, which works the IGI Airport, regarding the Rs 2,600 crore property charge request by the expert for the 2016-19 time frame.

 

A seat of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan gave the bearing after the DCB looked for one more week to document its reaction to DIAL’s supplication testing the property charge request.

 

The court noticed that both the Center and the DCB are yet to record their answers and are looking for more opportunity to do as such.

 

“Time as looked for is conceded to record the answers. In the mean time, no coercive move be made against the applicant (DIAL) till the following date of hearing,” the seat said and recorded the issue on September 14.

 

Giving notification to the Center and the DCB on July 22, the court had would not pass any break request on the supplication looking for remain on the June 15 choice of the board or securing the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) from any coercive activity for non-installment of the sum which must be paid inside 30 days of raising of the interest.

 

Other than looking for subduing of the June 15 request requesting over Rs 2,589 crore, the supplication has looked for a statement that the land on which Indira Gandhi International Airport is found isn’t a cantonment and along these lines, doesn’t fall in DCB ward.
