NGT slams MoEF for delay in norms for emission from railway engines

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice A K Goel said that despite its 2017 direction the matter is still pending and has not been finalised by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF)

Current Affairs : The National Green Tribunal has hammered the earth service for postponement of more than three years in settling rules identifying train norms for the Railways.

 

A seat headed by NGT Chairperson Justice A K Goel said that regardless of its 2017 course the issue is as yet pending and has not been concluded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).

 

“It is therefore observed that despite the fact that over three years have passed, the principles have still not been finished with no legitimate defense. Such unexplained postponement and lack of care can barely be helpful for the Rule of Law,” the Bench said.
