IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rain in Konkan, central Maharashtra

Mumbai and neighboring Thane are probably going to observe most extreme precipitation force on Friday and Saturday, when the Ganesh celebration starts, IMD Mumbai focus’ delegate chief general K S Hosalikar said.

 

The 10-day Ganesh celebration will start on August 22.

The Modak Sagar dam, one of the seven repositories which flexibly water to Mumbai, began flooding on Tuesday late evening following unending downpours in its catchment zone, a municipal authority said.

 

With great precipitation this month, the seven dams-Bhatsa, Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna, Tansa, Modak Sagar, Vihar and Tulsi – have 83 percent water stock, authorities said.
